New TUC report reviewing Health & Safety
Some of their findings include:
- Big rises in Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) and Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) which affect over ½ million
- Partly because of a huge rise in IT, with far more people typing and sitting for long periods
It is not true that offices are safe – Stress & RSI is more common in offices and account for 70% of all work-related illness
- Growth of computing has transformed the way we work

They conclude:
- Health & Safety is about controlling risks. Significant risks should be removed.
- TUC recommend that Directors should have a legal duty to ensure the Health & Safety of employees
- TUC recommend that government appoint a Health & Safety champion
