Health at Work Summit 2010

Keytools enjoyed attending last week’s Health at Work Summit. With an impressive selection of speakers, exhibitors and delegates, we had an informative and educational few days.

Highlights for us included:

- Fit Note. Hearing everyone’s views and experiences of how the Fit Note is working.

- Seeing Dr Boorman confirm a positive correlation between wellbeing and performance (Boorman Review).

- The Centre for Wellbeing’s 5 Ways to Wellbeing:
i) Connect
ii) Be Active
iii) Take Notice
iv) Keep Learning
v) Give

- Concerns from CIPD that there is an increase in staff saying that they are “under excessive pressure”.

- Overall theme that line managers need support and training on how to support their staff. This could be the key to wellbeing, engagement and attendance.

Keytools were also delighted to be able to give our thoughts on how a preventative strategy to reduce Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) can improve staff wellbeing and reduce the costs of absence. RSI expert Paul Goddard explained how a workforce’s productivity could be leveraged with good ergonomics.
